Cryo-preserved platelets quality over time after thawing

Cryopreservation and time after thawing affects morpho-functional characteristics of platelets, posing concerns on their use for the purpose they are routinely requested in clinical context. Lipid peroxida-tion and protein misfolding seen by FTIR microscopy account for the alteration of membrane integrity and stiffness, which occur irreversibly 3 h after thawing.
