How to reach the conference venue

The conference was held at Starhotels Savoia Excelsior Palace. The hotel is located downtown in Trieste, rather close to the famous Piazza Unità and can be easily reached by bus or taxi from the central railway station (Stazione Centrale). If you enjoy walking and don't carry heavy luggage, it takes only about 13 minutes to go there by foot (see map on the right). Though, you have to pay a ticket (from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm excl. Sunday). Note that the hotel does not offer a garage service. |

By bus from the railway station
From the stop in front of the station take bus N. 8 or N. 30 right to the stop in front of the hotel. You can buy tickets (€1.35) at newsagents (there's one inside the station main building) and from automatic machines, but not on board!
By taxi from the railway station
You can find taxis in the avenue facing the station eastern side (Viale Miramare). If you want to book one call +39 040 307730.
How to reach Trieste from the city airport (FVG - Ronchi dei Legionari airport)
The FVG airport is only 35 km far from Trieste. There is a direct bus connection from the airport to city, arriving at the railway station (bus number 51). Tickets (€4.05) can be purchased at the arrivals hall of the passenger terminal, next to the main exit door or outside the airport just in front of the bus stop. The timetable can be found here. A taxi service is also available but is rather pricey (about €60).
How to reach Trieste from Venice airport (Marco Polo airport)
The journey takes a long time. First, you have to go to Venezia-Mestre railway station by bus. The ride takes about 30 min. Then, you have to take the train to Trieste railway station. Trains travel every hour; the trip takes slightly less then 2 hours. Prices and timetables can be found on the national railway (Trenitalia) website.
