John Wood

 
Prof John Wood is a distinguished materials scientist who has greatly contributed in several high levelfunctions to the construction of the European Research Area. Particular contributions have been in the field of the development of world-level Research Infrastructures, as, e.g., the construction of the Diamond synchrotron radiation facility and the XFEL Free Electron Laser source. Yet, even more important are his contributions to policy making at the EU level, with the launch of the European Roadmap for Research Infrastructure as Chair of ESFRI, the European Strategy Forum for ERAB, the European Research Advisory Board. The European perspectives of SincrotroneTrieste have been greatly improved thanks to the strong development driven by Prof. John Wood and we look forward to his continuing this drive, as a true “European Citizen”.
