Ref. E/15/15 T-ReX PostDoc Research Associate at FERMI (copy)
Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste is an international multidisciplinary research center operated as a user facility, featuring a 2.4 GeV, third-generation synchrotron light source and a variety of support laboratories. The extremely high quality of the machine and beamlines has set new performance records and has been producing results of great scientific interest. See http://www.elettra.eu for more information. A free-electron laser (FEL) based, fourth generation source - FERMI - is currently under commissioning. See http://www.elettra.eu/lightsources/fermi.html for more information.
Elettra has very extensive programs in the field of microscopy operating several VUV/x-ray microscopy beamlines. The Spectromicroscopy beamline operates in the 20-300 eV photon energy range and hosts a low photon energy, scanning angle-resolved photoemission microscope. Research focuses on the study of the electronic structure of materials on the submicron scale in different fields, including materials science and solid state physics.
See http://www.elettra.eu/elettra-beamlines/Spectromicroscopy.html for more information.
Job Description: The successful candidate will be involved in the study of electronic structure properties of materials and nanostructures (from graphene or high Tc superconductors to fuel cells).He/she will collaboratewith the beamline staff and users in running and further developing the Spectromicroscopy beamline and end station in order to accomplish the experimental program. |
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry or a related discipline is required. Experience in most of the following fields is required: photoelectron spectroscopy and/or microscopy, angle resolved photoemissionspectroscopy and/or microscopy, sample surface preparation, high or ultra-high vacuum methods for surface analysis, film growth and construction of scientific equipment relevant to synchrotron beamlines. |
