Post-Doc Research Associate for the European project CENILS
Ref. E/12/08
Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste is an international multidisciplinary laboratory operated by Elettra - Sincrotrone Trieste S.C.p.A. as a user facility, featuring a 2.4 GeV, third-generation synchrotron light source and a variety of support laboratories. The extremely high quality of the machine and beamlines has set new performance records and has been producing results of great scientific interest. A free-electron laser (FEL) based, fourth generation source - FERMI@Elettra - is currently under commissioning. See http://www.elettra.trieste.it/FERMI/ for more information.
Elettra-Sincrotrone Trieste is lead partner of the project CENILS (Central European Network for the development of Innovative Light Sources), recently funded in the framework of the Central Europe Program (http://www.central2013.eu/). The project activities started in September 2012 and will end in December 2014. Total project’s budget is about 1 million euro. One of project aims is to carry out a seeding experiment on the FERMI@Elettra FEL. The seeding experiment will rely on the development of a new femtosecond laser system. ST is also contributing to the commissioning of the CITIUS light source, based the principle of laser high-order harmonic generation.
Job Description: The selected candidate will join the team presently engaged in the commissioning of the FERMI@Elettra free-electron laser and of the CITIUS source. He/she will be in charge of designing and conducting the experiments on these two light sources, as foreseen by the CENILS project. He/she will also keep contact with the external users who will join the experiments, and assist them during experimental sessions. |
Qualifications:The candidate must hold a PhD in physics, engineering, or related topics. At least three years of experience in the field of developing/using ultrafast light sources is required. A proven expertise in research with organic semiconductors will be considered an asset. Good time management skills and ability to prioritize are expected, together with the ability to interact with staff and facility users at all levels and to perform independent work in a group-oriented multidisciplinary research environment. |
The search will be opened immediately and will continue until either a suitable candidate is found.
The position envisioned is for a Research Associate contract (contratto di collaborazione a progetto) of an initial 12 months duration.
